A family story, since 1989.
From a small workshop in Taquarituba to musicians all over Brazil: the story of Eliel Marcos de Almeida and the workshop that bears the Hossony name.
I · The beginnings
Starting out with Luiz Rodrigues
It all began in Taquarituba, alongside Luiz Rodrigues, who started violin making in the family by founding Nhureson. That is where Eliel Marcos de Almeida worked and learned the craft.
1989
Hossony is born
After years at the bench, Eliel founded his own workshop and created the Hossony brand. Working alone and with his sons, he began making violins, violas, cellos and double basses.
III · Made to order
For the most demanding musicians
Hossony stood out for its mastery of made-to-order work: instruments built to measure for professional musicians, starting from each client’s own idea.
IV · All of Brazil
From students to symphony orchestras
Hossony instruments travelled across the country and reached every kind of musician — from students to members of symphony orchestras.
Double basses, cellos and varnish
Double basses and cellos became the workshop’s great speciality, with custom scrolls and f-holes, carving and exotic models — and recognised excellence in painting, varnish and, above all, sound.
VI · Today
A craft that stays in the family
Father and sons work side by side at the bench, keeping the same standard that built the Hossony name.
Where does Hossony come from?
The name was born from Eliel’s admiration for two brands he has always loved: Höfner, the traditional instrument maker, and Sony. Blending the two gave us Hossony.
